It\u2019s about cultural and personal alienation and feeling like everyone and everything around you is geared toward some incomprehensible rat-race, to be more, to own more, to do more\u2026 it\u2019s very \u201980s greed\u2019 inspired. It reflects on the insanely competitive aspects of the college application process and some of the unfortunate bullying I experienced not only in school but also when I was a ballet student, when body-imagery as well as social status was as much a part of our roller-coaster conservatory dynamics as dancing itself. I chose to include a grown-up version of this song on \u2018Canopy\u2019 not only because I thought that The Sequins could bring it to new life, but because it\u2019s essentially about corruption, written from a child\u2019s perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"598\" src=\"https:\/\/femmusic.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Canopy.jpg\" alt=\"Canopy\" class=\"wp-image-110246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/femmusic.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Canopy-600x445.jpg 600w, https:\/\/femmusic.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Canopy-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/femmusic.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Canopy-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A balm to all the divisiveness in the world, <em>Canopy <\/em>is equal parts emotional exhale and invitation to a more compassionate future, tackling themes of acceptance, inclusivity, and safety through songs that feel like a refuge woven from resilience and the irrepressible determination to find light in the darkest places such as stand out tracks \u201cNexus,\u201d \u201cLive It Up,\u201d \u201cThe Best Version,\u201d \u201cCanopy\u201d and \u201cJust Enough.\u201d \u201cCreating safety and inclusivity in times of divisiveness can be a radical and powerful act;
