Ahead of the tour, The Beaches will be performing at the legendary GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles on September 3rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the more uptempo, club-ready energy of previous singles, \u201cLesbian Of The Year\u201d gives listeners a taste of the band\u2019s extensive range on the upcoming album. The evocative ballad follows member Leandra Earl\u2019s deeply personal story of coming to terms with her sexuality later in life. The sentiment, echoed through the lyrics, is relatable to many who\u2019ve also dealt with similar emotions as they\u2019ve grappled with self-acceptance. The song showcases the band\u2019s continued commitment to authenticity and vulnerability in their music and writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c\u2018Lesbian Of The Year\u2019 is about the shame I felt coming out later in life and the pressure of trying to live up to \u2018Lesbian of the Year,\u2019 a title given to me by my sweet fans,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>shares Leandra.<em>&nbsp;\u201cI feel regret for not knowing myself sooner, but this song is also about the journey of self discovery &amp; sexual identity and accepting that everyone is on their own timeline and we\u2019ll get there when we get there.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new single follows the release of The Beaches\u2019 cover of \u201cUltimate\u201d for the official soundtrack of <em>Freakier Friday,<\/em> Disney\u2019s sequel to the cult classic film starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The song was originally performed by Lohan\u2019s character Anna\u2019s band Pink Slip, an all-female rock band that has drawn similarities to The Beaches\u2019 fiercely unapologetic style and sound. From the indie melancholy of \u201cLesbian of the Year,\u201d to the angst of \u201cCan I Call You In The Morning?\u201d the album is set to solidify the group as one of the driving forces of alt-rock today. It\u2019s an album for dancing through the wins, the lows, and the real. Whatever reason you\u2019re partying, just know The Beaches are out there doing the same, well after the club has closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLesbian Of The Year\u201d follows previous singles \u201cTouch Myself,\u201d a perfect scream-in-your-car breakup track and \u201cDid I Say Too Much,\u201d which chronicles a head-spinning situationship. They\u2019ve taken their festival set across the pond for a string of performances in Europe, before heading back to the US for Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta and Maryland\u2019s All Things Go Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September, they\u2019ll kick off a major headlining North American tour, hitting major cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, and more, before concluding in Canada for what is expected to be a triumphant homecoming on November 15th.
